Meet Peter Charlap

FOUNDATION BOARD CO-CHAIRMAN

I want to start by sharing special moments with Chris.

In the time I got to know Christopher Anthony Young, I learned a great deal from him.  Most of all I learned about human dignity, the way that people can think about, care about, and seek to help others.  I was always struck by learning the many ways that the men at Polunsky, who were demeaned and abused in so many ways, were able to support each other through sharing or advising. Chris's leadership qualities really enhanced his concern for others and he provided a positive role model as a person who cared for others. His powerful intellect allowed him to examine and understand how the power structures at Polunsky sought to impede the community of people who really cared for each other. Everyone who knew Chris will miss his powerful insights into the human condition as well as his personal warmth and sense of humor.

I created this painting of Chris!
