Anger Management

Why are you Angry?

One of the first things you should think about in concerns about Anger is, WHY are you Angry? Figuring out why you are truly Angry at any given time will help you start to better manage it. Every time you get Angry, ask yourself why.

Most of the times when people become Angry, it's because of a whole lot of things and situations that has built up over time. As a young person, because a lot of things in life feel beyond your control to stop or even properly address. You become Angry. There will be signs through outbursts, which are seen as temper tantrums. Usually there is a slow build up. But where does that built up begin? Where was the start? When you are young, a lot of the beginnings of your Anger begins and starts with this feeling of no control. You are told what to do. When to do it. And what the consequences will be if you don't do what you're told.

Then, there are situations which you might see that you feel helpless to stop, like seeing your mother physically and verbally abused. Seeing your siblings - brothers or sisters - physically and verbally abused. This abuse could extend outside of your home into your neighborhood or environment. What can you do? You feel helpless and this leads to frustrations and growing Anger. Maybe you feel you are blamed for things you didn't do and no one believes you. You feel that you have no voice, and so once again  you feel helpless. You feel that you have no control. Any of these generalities could be your situation.

It is up to you to identify them. Remember this. It will ALWAYS be your responsibility to identify what are the things that upset you. It will ALWAYS be your responsibility to identify the things that  leads to your Anger. As a young person, this is important. Even if you feel you have no one to listen to you. You must still take responsibility for your own Anger. So again I ask you, WHY are you Angry?
